My Brilliant, Computer-literate, Soon-to-be-High School Graduating Son, Mason helped me add my favorite song to the blog.
The band: Mercy Me
The song: Homesick
About: Being separated too soon from someone you love (and not knowing when you'll see them again)
Me: Usually crying, this is just such a beautiful song that sums up exactly how I have felt this past year, homesick.
(It will stop on its own or you can pause it to stop playing.)
"....And at least a thousand times I've rejoiced for you
But the reason why I'm broken, the reason why I cry
Is how long must I wait to be with you
I close my eyes and I see your face
If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place
Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
I've never been more homesick than now
Help me Lord cause I don't understand your ways
The reason why I wonder if I'll ever know
But, even if you showed me, the hurt would be the same
Cause I'm still here so far away from home.
I close my eyes and I see your face
If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place
Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
I've never been more homesick than now
In Christ, there are no goodbyes
And in Christ, there is no end
So I'll hold onto Jesus with all that I have
To see you again
To see you again
And I close my eyes and I see your face If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place
Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
Won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
Won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
I've never been more homesick than now"
If home is where my heart is, then I'm out of place.....
For my heart has been with Austin and Logan for the past year....
Home...
Home, to me, will be having them in my arms, together, again, at last, and forever....
After being Out of Place for so long, we are so close to being Home!

I found your blog on Lou's and this post has brought lots of tears to my eyese. You really brought new meaning to the words of that song with your pictures added to it. This truly is how an adoptive parent feels once they meet their child and have to leave them behind in another country for an indefinite amount of time. Thanks you so much.
I will add you to my prayer list and pray that things progress quickly for you and your family.
Your baby is precious!
Amanda
Donna,
I am praying for you while you wait there last agonizing days without you boys. The day is almost here that you get to put your boys' feet on American soil. Almost there.
Prayers,
Courtney
Hang in there....we will be praying for you on this last leg of your journey to these 2 beautiful boys! Love the song and wish you all the best!
LOVE your blog! But I wanted to let you know that the song "Homesick" is really about death. When you lose someone you love and you can't be together until Heaven...hence the words "you're in a better place" (Heaven) or "in Christ, there are no goodbyes, in Christ there is no end. So I'll hold onto Jesus with ALL that I have to see you again". I guess it could sound like what you're going through (waiting for the boys) but I have heard this song SO many times (I have the CD) and I read the inside cover and that's what it had said. The band had some major losses (family deaths) that led them to write that song. i can't wait to see the boys finally home. You are blessed (as are they!!!) God speed!
Welcome to my blog!
I get so many hits on this page. I have seen Mercy Me in concert (3) times. The 2nd time, my husband and I heard this song. I'm not even sure they had had a chance to record it on their album.
It is such a powerful song and we are all so blessed that such beautiful and inspiring words/lyrics came out of such great personal pain and tragedy.
During our international adoption, being separated from our twins was the most heartbreaking experiene I have ever felt. My heart completely belonged to them and it was so physically painful to not be there with them.
And I fully relied on God to get me through the wait for them - sometimes more graciously than others.
And this song, although written about a loved one being in heaven exemplified everything I was feeling.
If you have Google'd the lyrics, I assume you too, might be in the midst of suffering from a loss. I pray for those that visit here, for whatever reason.
And if you would ever like for me to pray specifically for something, feel free to leave a message here.
God bless!
