I'm pinching myself to make sure I'm not dreaming but they are home. Arrived in Richmond this morning at 8:48 am - very weary, but extremely elated travelers - so happy to be back in their hometown with the two newest United States citizens, Austin and Logan - Happy 4th of July!!
They were able to find a hotel room last night but only managed to get about 4 hours sleep before they had to be up and back at the Charlotte airport for their 7:45 am flight to Richmond.
So, their journey has come full circle and this Grandma is one happy lady - so is Granddaddy - we have two of the most precious grandsons imaginable. They are ready with a grin and a smile for everyone they meet, and in an instant, wrapped us all around their tiny little fingers. What fun-filled days await us with those two - the adventure begins.
I also would like to add how proud I am of Mason and Evan, who handled the responsibilities of being home by themselves magnificently. In addition to working, they cleaned the house, washed all the dirty dishes, did the laundry, cut the grass, and washed Donna's car & filled it with gas. Now, that's something to brag about - how many young men their age would have taken care of things so well?? They are two fine young men, and we're so happy to be their grandparents.
I'm sure once Donna has caught her breath and gotten a little rest, she will be posting all about her experience the last 3 weeks and letting you know how remarkable her newest additions are.
I've enjoyed my little blogger experience and wish all of you well in your own personal "journeys" to bring home your babies/children. God Bless You and we will keep you in our prayers constantly.

Didn't make it
They're stranded in Charlotte, NC - the 10:30 flight to Charlottesville actually left at 10:05 and they missed it by seconds - they are now scheduled to arrive in Richmond tomorrow morning on USAirways flight 3266 which leaves Charlotte at 7:45 am and arrives in Richmond t 8:48 am.
They have had a horrendous day, but Donna says the boys did well on the long flight from Guatemala and are holding up OK - I'm not sure she and Gary can say the same. There doesn't seem to be any hotel rooms available in Charlotte, so on top of everything else, they may be sleeping in the airport tonight. I got a frantic call from Donna asking me to search the internet for a room - I found one and they are in the process of trying to book it now. Keep praying, everybody - the saga continues - they just need to get home.
I guess it was meant for the boys to arrive home on Independence Day.
Hope noone headed for Charlottesville - our phones have been ringing off the hook and I couldn't get over here to update this blog any sooner.

Missed the flight - won't be in Richmond
They missed the flight from Charlotte to Richmond; however, there is a 10:30 flight leaving Charlotte for Charlottesville - it's a USAir flight and they are on it. They should arrive in Charlottesville at 11:30 or so - we are on our way to Charlottesville to pick them up.
Must run - someone will update this site tomorrow.

Flight Update
Hey, everybody. Just wanted to bring you up to par on what's happening. The flight from Guatemala just landed in Charlotte at 8:57 pm (1 hour later than expected), so as of now, the chances of them making the 9:30 pm flight to Richmond is pretty poor.
As soon as I hear from Donna, I will update this site to let you know what they plan to do. If they need to stay in Charlotte tonight, the first flight out in the morning is at 10:35 am.
Keep checking - hopefully, she will be able to call me shortly.

They're on their way home!!
Once again, your prayers have helped - Donna just called to tell me they were able to get seats on the flight from Guatemala to Charlotte and were getting ready to board the plane. Luckily, they were able to upgrade to first class and the stewardess told them they would have lots of room to move around because first class wasn't full. WHOOPEE!! Looks like it's really going to happen and they will be home in Virginia in a matter of a few more hours.
Now, they just have to get through customs and immigration in time to board their flight from Charlotte to Richmond. One more leg and the journey is over.
As soon as I hear from her about whether they will be on the flight from NC, I will update this site - so check back around 9:00 pm or so. The flight leaves NC at 9:35 pm (it's an hour flight to Richmond) and they probably won't know for sure if they will be on it until the last minute.
Keep the prayers going for a little longer and thank you all again so very much for your unwavering support.
