A Junior!

Yep, my baby's heading off (in his own car that he bought) to start his junior year today ( I know - we're SO much later than the rest of you!).

He's dreading it. He hates school...H-A-T-E-S school with a passion, but he works really hard and makes great grades. I'm extra proud of him because he's been sleeping in until 2 o'clock in the afternoon all summer long (when he wasn't working) and he got up on his own this morning, no fuzzin', no hitting the snooze button a thousand times. It's usually quite a chore to get him up and out.

AND he let me take his picture:

He did say he wasn't going to smile, he just said he would let me take it!
We're gonna miss having him around all day (well after 2pm when he wakes up!). He plays with Austin and Logan SO much. In fact, Evan pretty much keeps the family in stitches all the time. He has a very dry, perfect timing type of humor.
My case in point:
Me: "I wonder sometimes what Austin and Logan are going to look like when they're all grown up."
Evan: "Yeah, well, they're probably going to look just like they do now."
Me: "Well, I know, we all look like ourselves some...."
Evan (a height-obsessed basketball player): "No, I mean just like now, they're probably done growing, right? I don't think they're going to get much taller."

Awww he's a sweetheart...a softie buried below the "okay, you can take my picture" bravado! ;)

Hope today went great!

He is funny! Junior year wow. I hope that Alex will still let me take his picture then. Hope he enjoys this year more than last.

I am vowing to comment more. Sorry I have been so silent lately. The move really had me depressed for a while. Thanks for the comment on Alex's first day. :)

Well, good for him for going to school willingly even when he hates it!

Hey, a new car must be a good incentive to be up and ready to go on the first day of school! Heehee!! Hope it was a great day and the no AM fussin' continues!

What a sweetie to let mom take his pic! How funny though that he didn't smile : ) How could he sleep to 2:00 with 2 loud 2 year olds? Hats off to him!

Wow a Junior. That's a big deal. He's a good boy to let you take a picture. Why do boys get so weird about that as they get older??

Good luck this year in school!

We aren't going to get to make it to Guatoberfest after all. I am very bummed but it is for the best.

awwww. What a good kid he is.

If I could get my 12 year old to get his butt out of bed in the mornings I would seriously throw him a party. He has slept through every alarm clock I've bought for him. He'd sleep through a tornado I'm sure. When he goes off to college he's either going to have to live at home or I'll be ringing him every morning to make sure he wakes up for class.
