Start a New Christmas Tradition!

Hey folks, just thought I would share a neat opportunity for those who may not know about it.

Rather than exchange presents at Christmas, my family takes the money that would normally be spent and we decide each year what to do with it. We've done the Angel Tree before, etc.

So, this year, we are going to buy a cow for a family in need!

Have you ever heard of Heifer International? In short, you can "buy" a cow, a goat, a chicken, other livestock or even sewing materials for a family living in poverty. You are basically "giving" the family a chance to support themselves. They, in turn, agree to pass on offspring from that livestock to another family...so the gift keeps on giving, all in an effort to end World Hunger.

Now, it's way more in depth than that, but if you are interested, you can find out all sorts of additional information at their website: http://www.heifer.org/ Click on "Give" and you can view a online catalog.

Thanks!

I'm going to check into that. I think last year my mother and I had a goat bought in our name by my sister and her husband.

That is a wonderful tradition to start. Our church supports the heifer project each year. Seasons Greetings
